Personal Vision

In 20 years I will be 38. I hope that we have done enough about climate change by then that the world is still somewhat habitable, and we can still see any kind of future for the next 20 years after that. Maybe I will still be alive. I hope everything is a lot less of a mess. At some point throughout the craziness I have decided anything imaginable is possible in this odd world, which is both encouraging and discouraging in every way possible. In any case, I will now tell you about what I think is an optimistic possibility for my personal future. 

For starters, I want to go to college. I would like to get my degree in some kind of STEM field, ideally engineering, and hopefully aerospace engineering. If aerospace doesn’t end up working out then I would likely go into environmental or civil engineering. I would also like to continue to do dance in college, ideally having dance as a second major or as a minor. I plan on living in the dorms for at least the first year of college. I would like to get a research internship, but if/when this is not available (particularly when a lower classman) I would likely have a job being a babysitter or nanny. At some point in time I would like to study abroad, although I know that this may be extra challenging because of my academic interests. At some point in time I would like to participate in one of TeaminTrainings rides, and to be super ambitious, I would like to do one of their 200 miles (in one day) rides. 

Ideally I would be able to get my master’s degree right out of undergrad, but if not I would work some kind of STEM job, and then go back to school. It’s very important to me that I am able to get my masters degree before starting a family. This is because for starters, I know I want one. But also because both my mom and my grandma got their master’s degrees while working and having a family (my grandma was also a single mom). Although I admire them for this, I think that that kind of situation is less than ideal. 

I would like to be able to travel and potentially work internationally while I’m young. Ideally I would like to live in a metropolitan area, which would ideally be in a futsal location.
